I have proudly served the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for more than 26 years. Over the course of my career, I have worked in nearly every division of the department, including Patrol, Special Victims Unit, Drug Task Force, Civil Process, Communications, Property Management, and Transportation. Today, you can find me out on the road, directly engaging with the public and staying connected with the citizens of Lake County.
Law enforcement has given me a front-row seat to the challenges the Sheriff’s Officers face and the concerns of its residents. I have learned that real leadership requires listening, compassion, and action. These lessons have been shaped by years of service, and have guided my vision for a safer and stronger community.
Beyond the badge, I have always been deeply involved in my community. I serve on the grievance board at the Lakes of the Four Seasons, volunteer with local fundraisers and outreach through Calumet Township, and advocate for individuals with Autism, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s. I believe in protecting the dignity and quality of life for our most vulnerable residents.
Family is at the heart of who I am; a proud wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother. Building a better future for our children is what drives me every single day.
I am running for Sheriff because I believe leadership should be rooted in integrity, service, and the willingness to do the hard work. My life has been dedicated to serving others, and I am ready to lead the Lake County Sheriff’s Department with that same dedication, honesty, and compassion that has defined my career.
LEADERSHIP THAT LISTENS. SERVICE THAT INSPIRES. CHANGE THAT MATTERS.

Born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana I was a devoted single mother who worked four jobs to support my family: I worked as a Secretary, Real Estate Developer Assistant, Bartender, and Drummer on the weekends. While living in Hammond, I sought after a fulfilling career to provide for my family. I started as a Clerk in Records for Lake County. I then took an opportunity to join the Lake County Law Enforcement where I have spent the last 26 years. My husband and I both serve as Lake County Sheriff Officer’s. Captain Steven Trajkovich has served our community for over 30 years and we reside in Crown Point with our son.

I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren.
