My name is Maria D. Garcia-Trajkovich, and I am a 26-year veteran of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. With your support I am ready to make history as the first elected woman Sheriff in Lake County, Indiana.

I have had the privilege of serving in various divisions of the department, which include Patrol, Special Victims Unit, Drug Task Force, Civil Process, Communications, Property Management and Transportation. This diverse experience has helped me gain vital knowledge of departmental operations and has earned me the trust and respect of my colleagues and community members across Lake County. 

Let’s make history together! It is time to reform outdated practices, rebuild strong community relationships, and restore the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to the standard of excellence our community deserves.
